The foundations of the modern Erikoglu Group of the 2000s were laid by our industrial veteran Ahmet Nuri Erikoglu,
who started his business life by forging in the Denizli Kaleici Coppersmiths Market in 1937
Any kitchen utensils such as cauldrons, cooking pots, trays, etc. which must be available at a house were made with
the power of wrist using only a hammer and a few tools without any technologies in those years by Ahmet Nuri
Erikoglu. Using mathematics very well, Ahmet Nuri Erikoglu made his debut among other coppersmiths in a short time
and grew his business and shifted from forging into manufacturing copper objects in moulds which was a very
important innovation in those times. In a short while, he started to sell goods all over the Aegean Region, especially in
Izmir, Aydin, Mugla, Isparta.
Copper electrolysis plant (Elektrobakir) was incorporated in Istanbul in 1965 Sheet copper was manufactured in that
plant and transported to Denizli, where it was made into moulded copper objects. Mass production was shifted to in
the 1970s. Then he made a decision to make the copper so manufactured into wire.
In those days, only non-muslims performed this business. Copper wires manufactured by Ahmet Nuri Erikoglu
especially started to be sold in the Istanbul market. Ahmet Nuri Erikoglu, who made the domestic work power
coalesce with a rational training together with his partner Mehmer Ergur, caused the minorities who held copper wire
production in their monopoly to withdraw from the market without standing further.
When the copper wire sold to Istanbul was sold back to Denizli by sheathing it in plastic, a decision was made to
manufacture cables in Denizli. Ergur Kablo was incorporated in this way. While copper wire manufacturing was still
going on, Ergur Kablo started to grow in its own capacity and entered in the largest 5 factories in its own sector in
Turkey in the 1980s.
In the 1980s, the greatest dream of Ahmet Nuri Erikoglu was to erect an integrated plant which would manufacture its
own copper and eventually make it into copper wire. With this in mind, foundations of Erbakir were laid in the 1980s. A
partnership was established with Abalioglu in Erbakir in 1985
At present, Erbakir has become the corporation which has the largest capital and the second largest plant in its field in
Turkey.
Enterprising nature of the Erikoglu Group has been reflected upon the other sectors as well. The Group has also
entered the enamelled copper wire, textile, petroleum, electric materials sectors.
The Erikoglu Group shall be at Turkey's disposal as a leading and exemplary group in the 21st century as well as in
the 20th.
